Plus or Paramount Plus or HBO or Voodoo You get the why habits are like apps in Our brain and your brain is a powerful Computer with its own operating system And a bunch of habits and routines that Are installed to carry out basic tasks At all times and it makes sense I mean If we had to consciously remember how to Go to the bathroom or how to drive a car Every single time we'd never make it out Of the Stone Age I mean think about how Many times you've just zoned out while Driving it's just subconscious so the Tricky part though is these apps are Installed subconsciously but they're Being updated all the time so we need to Move away from instant gratification and Move towards these long-term goals and Things that don't reward us right away So the first step is to become aware of This Now awareness is like a superpower Self-awareness self-awareness I struggle To think about the things I'm bad at the Lack of self-awareness so once you know Not think but know you have control your Habits can be changed and you can become Whoever you want to be so let's say you Want to build an online business that Gives you some Financial Independence And you want to quit your job but you Work 40 hours a week and aren't sure Where to start so what are you doing Outside of work how much spare time do
You have what are you spending that time Doing so if you're like me like most People you get home you eat dinner you Sit by the TV scrolling through social Media hang out with your family these Important things that we can do but Sometimes we get sidetracked with some Distractions some people are pretty much Glued to their phone until they're in Bed and then they're still scrolling on Their phone and then they fall asleep And then their alarm wakes them up and They're still looking at their phone in The news and social media left versus Right all this stuff and it's just Constant attention that's being taken Away from things that really matter now We all fall victim to this so choosing This quick dopamine hit from screens When we should be doing something more Productive but being aware of this takes You out of this subconscious Loop now if We're left to our own devices human Beings will almost always choose Pleasure over discomfort and you can Thank like 200 000 plus years of human Evolution for that thank you so that Phone that's in your hands it can either On one hand help you like start a Business connect with loved ones do Things that move the needle forward or It can keep you a slave to this Attention and algorithm-driven economy It's all about what you do with it so
You can choose pleasure now or you can Choose to delay that pleasure for a much Bigger reward later on so scrolling Through your phone is fun and it kills Time but you're left with nothing as a Result and in fact it actually warps Your limbic system with too many quick Context changes which increases your Stress levels overall so this whole game Is basically rigged against you so again I'm sure you know this you're aware of This but it's still hard to stop so I Know at times I can be addicted to my Own smartphone even though I know and I Have this knowledge it's still hard to Put it down and attention is currency in This internet economy so social media Companies know this and they've Developed Ai and teams and algorithms That show you your favorite content to Keep you glued to your screen for hours On end and it only takes a few searches On YouTube or Instagram or Tick Tock to Send you down this Rabbit Hole so for Every video recommended you get there Are thousands of software Engineers on The other side whose solo job is to get You addicted to keep using these Platforms did you program her to like me So this is one of those habits that's Installed in your brand subtly and it's Sabotaging your ability to focus that's Why when you start something that feels Challenging like creating a business or
Starting a YouTube channel it's easy to Open up a tab and check your email or Pull out your phone see if you have any Messages check out short videos Tick Tock Instagram all these distractions so Ultimately how do we fix this we have to Act Charles Dew had created a powerful Formula for creating new habits so the Habit Loop consists of the queue plus The routine plus the reward so the queue Is the trigger for your brain that tells It what Habit to start the routine is The Habit that you carry out and it Influences what you do think and feel And the reward is what makes the Habit Valuable and when it is you do it over And over again like a programmed Computer my motion recognition protocol Is detecting a wide range of feelings so Morning coffee is a good example of this So you wake up you head right to the Kitchen walking into the kitchen it's Your cue to start making coffee then Your routine is to basically drink this Coffee sit the kitchen table scroll on Your phone work on your computer Whatever it is and then feeling alert And awake shortly after is the reward Now if you don't think you're a slave to This coffee habit like I am skip your Coffee tomorrow and tell me how you feel You might be a little agitated tired Have a splitting headache and all of That so now that you know the formula
You have to act and be willing to suffer Through some discomfort for a while Anytime you start something new there Will always be some resistance so you Will want to seek pleasure and go back To your old habits but you have to stick This one out so the first step is to Define what habit you want to create and This habit will likely take place of Another habit so for me you know I Started a Blog on the side of my Full-time job so in 2019 I wanted to Create content every night for at least A few hours instead of being on the TV Or whatever so I scheduled a two-hour Spot in my calendar Monday through Friday normally where I would chill out On the couch I had that time blocked out So my cue to get started creating Content was like finishing dinner or Something like that so once I was done Eating I'd go directly to the desk Instead of sitting on the couch so You're reframing rewiring your brain so I'd aim to sit there for two hours with My phone off all social media clothes And just write content as much as I Could to help try to build this business After the two hours up I was basically Free to do whatever I wanted which often Included rewarding myself in some random Way so the first few weeks was Definitely a struggle I couldn't write Sit there for two hours sometimes I'd
Only get 30 minutes of work done but it Didn't matter so as long as I wrote Something every night and moved this Business forward and started putting the Pieces in place I knew I was making Progress So within a few weeks I started To get in this groove and I you know Making this content building this Business started to feel normal so the New habit it wasn't perfect but it had Formed and the truth is I had to become Someone new so I had to celebrate this Work I had to celebrate it a lot so I Remember I worked at a bar a few nights A week and I had a few beers sitting There at my computer building this Business to make it happen I went out With friends after I had to reward the out of myself basically but most Importantly I had to believe that I was Somebody that would do these things and Eventually succeed I had to become the Person that did this and built this Business which I wasn't before but I am Not now because of this I'm able to sit Here on YouTube and share this with you And it was this single habit this single Belief that led me to create at this Blog that helped me quit my job within Seven months and then a Content business That I built that makes over a hundred Thousand dollars a month in affiliate Marketing every single month now I run Multiple seven figure businesses have
YouTube channels social media five Streams of income and a team of 12 People so remember this most of your Habits are subconscious and they rule Your waking Behavior the only way to Change these habits is to First be aware Of them and then make a committed effort To change them by replacing them with a New one so creating a new habit requires A good amount of willpower but you Ultimately it's not about just changing A little habit here and there and then Getting motivation and trying to find Success ultimately at its core you have To change your core beliefs and believe That you are somebody that is going to Succeed and take this on and do this you Can't force a new habit to work I mean If it was up to me I'd just be sitting On a beach drinking some Mai ties and Hanging out every day I have the money To do it I could but deep down I know That all of my long-term goals would go Away by doing that so I have to trade Instant gratification for gratitude I Have to reward myself I have to keep Pushing I have to become a content Creator not just a Content can consumer So ultimately I had to become a Completely new person that I had never Been before so habits you know habits Are cool habits are trendy habits are About incremental changes but this Really at its core is about complete
